History

Since 1972

Old Yankee Cutting Boards specializes in products custom-crafted in New England entirely by hand with Yankee pride and craftsmanship.

Old Yankee Cutting Boards have been gracing kitchens throughout the world since 1972. The business began in northern Maine in 1972 where an abundant supply of rock maple generated the idea for handcrafted countertops. The idea spread to include custom cutting boards that were handed out mainly as gifts to friends and family. After seeing the quality cutting boards, people asked to purchase them for themselves and their friends and family and Old Yankee began to grow by word of mouth.

Old Yankee Cutting Boards are made today in the same way as they were in 1972. We use only the highest quality woods and adhesives. Each cutting board is individually glued, planed, shaped and finished one at a time. This handcrafted process insures that no two cutting boards are alike. Many cutting boards may be constructed of the same wood types but due to the beauty of the tiger stripe or birdseye maple used, each cutting board highlights the wood’s individual beauty in a different way. This process allows us to produce a true one of a kind creation that will provide many years of service while adding a beautiful accent to your kitchen décor.

Old Yankee Cutting Boards products are designed for durability and will stand up to the most rugged use.  They are built to last in keeping with the spirit of old Yankee tradition. Our commitment to providing customers with the highest quality product and selecting the best materials possible is a hallmark of our thirty-eight years in business.

We are proud to say that Old Yankee cutting boards are being used in homes and restaurants by professional chefs, TV personalities, James Beard award winners and home cooks throughout the world.
